High-level strategic goals
QUOD Biobank’s 2025–2030 strategy is built around three strategic goals:

The achievement of these goals will be driven by three strategic projects, with specific yearly sub-objectives for each year.
Project 1: Enhancing visibility and increasing sample utilisation
This strategic project focuses on raising awareness of QUOD Biobank as a patient-benefiting, not-for-profit research platform and increasing the utilisation of its samples and data. Key priorities include developing collaborations with industry and charities, expanding engagement beyond transplantation research, and improving the measurement and communication of QUOD’s impact. The ultimate aim is to increase the utilisation of QUOD’s samples and data, and thereby accelerating more research that improves and saves lives.
Project 2: Securing and enhancing the quality of our infrastructure
This project is centred on maintaining a high-quality, sustainable, and efficient research infrastructure. Priorities include ensuring financial sustainability, embedding patient involvement, supporting effective leadership and governance, optimising processes, and maintaining the quality of samples and data. Together, these activities will ensure that QUOD remains a robust and trusted platform for researchers.
Project 3: Strengthening our offering to researchers in transplantation and beyond
This project aims to broaden and enhance QUOD Biobank’s scientific offering through the development of new resources, services, and collaborations. Areas of focus include multi-organ multi-omics initiatives, new biobanking opportunities, and enhanced data capabilities. By investing in these developments, QUOD Biobank seeks to increase its value to researchers and expand its reach within and beyond the transplantation research community.
Implementation through annual planning cycles:
Strategic plan for 2026–2027
At the start of each year of this five-year strategy, a strategic plan is developed outlining the actions and initiatives to be undertaken during the year.
In the current implementation year (March 2026 – April 2027), we will prioritise activities that increase awareness and utilisation of the QUOD Biobank.
Key initiatives within Project 1 include developing new industry collaborations, expanding the Innovation Competition programme through new charity partnerships, launching a QUOD ambassador network, and implementing a repositioned brand and strategic communications plan.
Within Project 2, planned activities include reviewing the business model and sample pricing, evaluating the renewed leadership structure, and implementing targeted quality assurance measures.
Finally, Project 3 focuses on exploring new developments that could expand QUOD’s scientific capabilities and value to researchers. Current areas of investigation include multi-organ multi-omics programmes, recipient and perfusate biobanks, and initiatives to strengthen QUOD’s data offering through new data landscape developments and partnerships. Over the coming year, efforts will focus on refining these concepts, assessing feasibility, securing stakeholder support and funding, and determining which opportunities should progress to the next stage of development.
